Winter Bike Series race for 2/20 Cancelled, Icy River Rampage is a go with a change of venue

As many of you probably assumed, the Winter Bike Series Alaska State Championship race scheduled for 2/20 at Kincaid has been cancelled. It is one thing to ride on ice in a straight line, its quite another thing to race glazed ice on twisty singletrack. We don't like canceling races, but unfortunately, the lack of winter is making that decision. Our goal in putting these races on is to provide a competitive platform for riders of all skill levels to push themselves safely. However, the conditions are not safe for all skill levels, especially not at speed. 

On a positive note, the Icy River Rampage is still on and rescheduled for 2/21 at a new race venue. Check their Friends of Eagle River Nature Center Facebook page link for more details. 

2016 Icy River Rampage Update

The 2016 Icy River Rampage has been postponed due to open sections of the river and large sections of overflow. The race will be rescheduled for February 21. You can find more information on the Icy River Rampage Facebook page.

Duze Downhill Race Information

Duze Super D

• Date - Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 6:00 PM 
• Location - Start: Glen Alps Trailhead   Finish: Hilltop Overflow Parking Lot at the STA Trails
• Registration 
• Registration is capped at 50 participants due to the State Park Special Events Permit
• Register Online at signmeup.com
• Register at the race from 5:00 PM to 5:45 PM
• Race Check In is at Glen Alps from 5:00 PM to 5:45 PM
• Pre-Race Meeting - Pre-Race Meeting at 5:45 PM at Glen Alps
• Course Information
• Start/Finish - The race will start at the Glen Alps Trailhead and Finish at the Hilltop Ski Area Overflow Parking Lot at the Base of the STA Trails
• The race starts at 6:00 PM 
• Racers will be leaving at 30 second intervals with Expert Men starting first
• Start Order will be based off last years Super D results 
• There will be Soup and Drinks at the finish provided by Bear Tooth

2016 FROSTY BOTTOM RESULTS

What an amazing day of racing! Who would have thought there would actually be enough snow to pull this off? There were quite a few photographers out there to document the race! Andy Romang showed up and got photos of nearly everybody, check out his website www.andyromang.com to purchase your action shots! Alaska Dispatch News was out in full force and wrote an article and took a few photos, you can see them at www.adn.com! And Travis, our local FAT-BIKE.COM ambassador was around the course documenting the racing action, stay tuned on www.fat-bike.com for a full write up on this years race!
